The mod journey that Frank de Jesus took on this RA65 Toyota Celica a tale older than time. Needing more power in his daily, but being appalled at the cost of a turbo kit for the engine in the car already, Frank took it into his own hands to swap the car with one of Toyota’s finest V8s ever made: the 1UZ. The result? OEM looks, with much more power. And better noises. Win.

Only if this world would have more cops like him it would be such a better world a more respectful safer world a place we could actually call home instead of a place we call a war zone because of the police conduct the treatment the environment they put us into by a simple stupid Factor called suspicion everybody is under suspicion why does it have to be like that why do you walk up to a car and automatically suspect that I'm a mass murderer or some pedophile if we had more cops like him it would be such a different world the world that I would actually call home myself but I like most cannot call it home. . May there be Santa Claus out there who will gift us such police officers like him more of him and more of cops like him that's all I ask for this Christmas Santa 👍

Sexy car...

I love his ride. I'm trying to hook mine up just like this one minus the engine. Is there anyone out there who has body parts for this same year?
Marzimus
15:51 That seat is ultra cool. Happy to see this era appreciated! Rear louvers are pretty much mandatory... 😜
Ryan
Amazing build... such a cool car and amazing condition. Shame you didn’t go for a drive!

This is a really rare car, especially the 1's with the "Pop-Up" headlights. I remember my mom bought 1 when I was a kid and she was so happy about it and I remember how mint it was because she got it from an old lady in Alabama. I think she mustve only paid like $2000 and it was basically only driven to the store and it was brand new. I loved that car and now I'm always into these cars when I see them. And it took me a minute to find out about which models are which from that Era because Toyota was trying alot back then with this car and the Supra but I really like this car more so body wise. I wish they would've played around with different engines for it back then too.
Izaak Avena #LuckySS
One of my favorite Celica's of all time💕
Leoki
Love those seats, wonderful build👍
O A
Badass!

The details on this swap are insane. It literally does look OEM.

My first car I purchased with my own money was a 1985 black Celica GT hatchback.

I got a 85 Supra @ 1992 with 155k that was owned by a Lockheed engineer. It was mint.. even had white letter Bridgestones. I sold it for $1800 in 99 with 285k.. I wrung it out but rumor has it that it is still running around the small town I grew up in. 225/60/14s became very hard to find when I finally let it go. It was a 5 speed too. Great car one of the best I ever had
JokerfleckCast
Badass car
Eric Perez
He’s sitting there getting lit while telling him about his build lol
Jimmy Hamm

He needs to open a shop. Definitely an artist.

That Chen guy is either not a car guy, a Toyota guy, or is playing dumb. Please tell me he knows that the ashtrays, climate control knobs, interior door handles were interchangeable with some Corollas and SR5s... I grew up(kinda) in the 80s installing Viper alarms in Toyotas. I still remember what color wires to look for. 😬
I had an AE86 but I'm in love with this car.
PelhamLocalProductions
everything he has on his beast is meant for it, oem or not
SentoHug
that car is fucking beautiful!
Randy Ledford
Love it 😊
Leo Reid
This is the best AutoFocus video I have watched Larry. This gentleman is a great guy and you can see his passion, wished it was longer, little POV ride around. Great job, both of you keep up the great, inspiring work.
synko75
🙏🏼🙇🏻♂️ Not sure why Larry Chen didn’t include the video when he drove it. Frank
donnie chamblee
Love those cars, I use to have a Celica GT-S, awesome!
Diji
Respect.
Johnny Vegas
So...is there a part 2 where we can at least hear the car?? Maybe I've been watching Jay Leno's garage too much lol.
Syncopia
Why don't they drive it
synko75
Not sure why Larry Chen didn’t include the video when he drove it. Frank
arcanask
This thing sounds mean. Love it.
Edward Alcala
My friend has one of these!!! But with the 22r if that’s the correct engine I’m thinking lol
Patric Kulju
What a cool car! Well built and excellent attention to detail.
Angel Hernandez
Incredible engineering I believe even Toyota will think they built it lol-lol!!!!
Vuth Sam
Larry, you always find these rare gems. When I sit there and go... wouldn't be cool if someone did this or that to this or that; low and be hold... you find it!
Darth Buddha
so the car has a lada logo... kinda
Open Roader
Top Work. These are totally over looked cars. But like the owner said, in California, 1985 vehicles still have to pass a smog test and can not be altered in anyway. The California Air Research Board (CARB) are full on Nazi's about this stuff. But this guy has done an amazing job.
Robert Lopez
I met frank years ago at the old school Japanese car meet in Burbank when I bought my first car. I had a 98 Nissan s14 and was my first time in a car scene. This was the first guy I ever met and is by far the nicest man in the car scene
Stephen Contreras
I love this cars so much badass Build 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Carlo Moro
this what ford wanted the fox body to be
Ryo Johnson
It is neat but this isn't anything to go Wow about. Seriously! It is mostly stock with a swap. Anyone can pull it off with ease on budget and expertise.
Jevon Tucker
Great car, excellent interview. Happy to see an owner who can articulate the build intelligently, much respect...
Earl vlogs
Hoonigan be all over the 1uz recently
Joseph Dunsmore
The way this man can spit out the part specs and numbers for his car though. Respect.

Celica + 1UZ= 🔥 breathing dragon 🐉
Alehyn666
Dudes chillin by the dumpster lmfao
Firebrand
The wheels suit that car so nicely, size and style, the tyres aren't to low profile... perfect imo.
mry82
I love that your compared it to the Fox Body... I could not help but see that too; although, compared to this the 80s Mustang was a Flintstone car, haha.
MultiRokusho
I’m glad it doesn’t get modified too much. Makes it easier to find stock ones with not much wrong with them
Brian Schermann
If I could have one car!!!!
Arthur Smith
Don't tell me before the end, no test ride to feel the power?
synko75
Not sure why Larry Chen didn’t include the video when he drove the car. Frank

Big fan of these wedge shapes Celicas and Supras, a goof friend owned both and the are a fun time.
Tim Williams
Amazing car The last of the rear wheel drive celicas I like the generation before but still that’s very nice. Mad respect for the effort
Thizlamic
Fuckin Dream Car. I always considered this the 86's bastard step brother! Still LOVE this body style.
Fernando Gracia
I had an 82, loved it! I only got rid of it after an electrical fire.🤦♂️

LOOK AT IT CLOSELY

Anybody else notice the NFS Most Wanted BMW parked on the street in the background?
Road Pilot
Mk2 celica body is a little shorter then the mk2 supra. Correct me if im wrong. But gotta give a high truely respect to this owner.
CooljaNitez Games
So no ones going to mention the BMW in the background? Wheres the video on that thing?
Wockwitdaglock
best video of yours I’ve seen this guy is a goat.
Josh Reitz
These cars were so dope. 80s American cars were so bland but Japan kept hitting it out of the park back then but I still don't feel like they ever got the appreciation they should've.
solicitutoob
I just love this 85' Celica. Props to the owner/builder. Super clean!
synko75
🙇🏻♂️🙇🏻♂️
enigmaPL
What is the offset on those rims? They would look perfect on my mk3 Supra. It's exactly the same kind of look I like and am going for. He is right when he says it just suits the body style and this era.
synko75
🙏🏼🙇🏻♂️ Thanks for asking. The wheels are 16x8 with 0 offset wrapped with 245/45R16 Toyo Proxes all the way around.
VCTR
Love the car
definitely unique and correct
Props
aero mtb
awesome build. wish instill had my celica. always wanted a gts or supra of that era.

I think I may have to 1UZ my 82 corolla now...

Welll that coffee gotta be cold by now 😁 these are wayy nicer than the corolla twincam s
Nathan Skelton
My favourite Celica build ever! Love how it looks like it was made factory from Toyota. The little touches and all the oem parts, the 1UZ conversion is the best and the air box mod to fit it in, the entire engine bay is one of the cleanest example ever and as a daily driver you’d love to driver it as you’re daily. Frank you are a legend much respect too you’re build you would inspired a lot of Toyota and car lovers too create this agian i know you have inspired me and one day im going to build me something like this 🙌🔥
Keith Schneidly
Well done! Beautiful machine. Thanks for showing us and thanks to the builder. Also very cool to see respect for people in police service.
Cory Beauchamp
Frank is awesome, love the respect the police sticker, I'm a ex con but I do respect the police. Toyota celica is one of my favorite cars and Franks is my favourite
J. C.
Nothing says"period correct" like an engine that didn't exist in the 80's and eBay wheels...

Great episode.
